On July 20, 1969, left handed Neil Armstrong, became the first man on the moon. One small
step for man, one giant left foot for mankind. As you watch the video
of this historic moment (see below) you will see him take the first
step with his left foot. Buzz Aldrin, the second man was also left handed.
Perhaps their right brain
thinking influenced them to be creative and
imaginative enough to accomplish one of the most important
feats of our lifetime. I am currently working on a page titled "Left
Handed Brain" which will explain more in depth information on why right
brained people (lefties) may have some advantages today and in the
future.
Other notable astronauts that were left handed are Jim Lovell (Gemini and
Apollo missions) and Wally Schirra (Mercury, Gemini and Apollo
missions).
Growing up during the space race was a very exciting time for a young
boy like myself. I remember writing the original seven astronauts and
getting autographed pictures back from them. Rockets and spaceships
became a reality thanks to
many brave men and women. If you are interested in the the
history of the space race go to Collecting -The-Space-Race.com.
